TORONTO – The Ontario Chapter of SCTE has grown to over 600 members since it’s inception in mid-2003. Strong leadership has been and will continues to be critical to ensuring the ongoing success of our chapter.
The bylaws require six board members, elected for two year terms, with three board members replaced each year in order to provide continuity. John Anderson, Lawrence Watson and Ian Oliver have reached the end of their 2-year term.
Watson and Oliver have decided to not run for re-election. Laura O’Hare, Michele Beck and Robin McIntyre will remain on the Board until the end of 2006.
All current Ontario members can nominate candidates for the board. Nominees do not necessarily need to be current members, but they must join and maintain SCTE membership during their two-year term of office.
All Ontario members are asked to give serious consideration to who might be a good candidate for the board. The position requires several hours of commitment each month, with a monthly board meeting, and the planning and organizing of general meetings and seminars. This is an excellent opportunity to demonstrate leadership abilities and lead a very dynamic organization. A good mix of both system operators and vendors is also a goal.
Nomination forms must be submitted by Friday, October 31. More details are on the nomination form which is available on the SCTE-Ontario web site at www.scte-ontario.com.
The election will be held from November 15-30, and all current SCTE members will be eligible to vote. This will be a web election and members will be notified of the procedure prior to November 15. The new board members will take office effective January 1, 2006.
