SCTE events schedule impacted by Covid-19

BRAMPTON, Ont. — The Ontario chapter of the Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) has postponed or cancelled a number of events in response to the Covid-19 pandemic and the need to comply with social distancing guidelines and the prohibition of large gatherings.

The schedule changes are:

  • The Cable Tec Games originally scheduled for June 16 have been postponed indefinitely. The Ontario chapter team will continue to monitor the situation to decide if the Games can be held later in the year.
  • The Annual Golf Tournament at Wooden Sticks in Uxbridge, Ont., is cancelled for 2020. The plan is to resume the popular golf event in 2021.
  • The Fall Show and Vendor Day originally scheduled for November 17 has been cancelled in favour of the rescheduled Commtech East Show on November 24-25. The Ontario chapter will continue to work with Commtech organizers in support of a single show.

The Ontario chapter leadership continues to look for ways to support its membership. These include:

  • Increased number of webinars, which will be communicated soon
  • Committee to advise and support Commtech East show in November
  • Board member elections in Q4
  • Continuing to meet regularly, monitoring the rapidly changing situation and looking for opportunities to safely resume normal activities
