SCTE Cable-Tec Expo expands educational agenda


EXTON, PA – The Society of Cable Telecommunications Engineers (SCTE) has more than doubled the educational component of SCTE Cable-Tec Expo this fall.

More than 70 individual presentations – an increase of approximately 125 percent over 2010 – will be available during the event at the Georgia World Congress Center. Industry experts will discuss such topical issues as leveraging IPTV and untethered devices; powering improved services for business customers; and evolving networks to provide more capacity, greater reliability and more efficient operations.

Together with a Capacity Management Symposium and select workshops on Monday, Nov. 14, the Nov. 15-17 educational portion of SCTE Cable-Tec Expo will encompass more than 25 topic areas in Business Services, Engineering, Technical Operations, Plant Operations and Facilities. In addition, Cable-Tec Expo will offer sessions in conjunction with the Federal Emergency Management Association (FEMA), Women in Cable Technology (WICT) and the Society of Women Engineers (SWE).

The Expo program includes presentations by cable system operators, vendors, expert consultants, CableLabs and the SCTE itself. These include: Eight presentations on the topics of IPv6, IP Video Transition and Multi-Screen Delivery as part of the Engineering track; a five-workshop Business Services track that includes discussion of Carrier Backhaul, Fiber Solutions, Wireless, Advanced Advertising and Advanced Services; and a total of 10 presentations on Network Capacity, including seven deep dives at the Nov. 14 Capacity Management Symposium and another three during the Expo program itself.

In addition, SCTE Cable-Tec Expo will feature presentations in areas as Smart Energy Management; Facilities Management, Preventive Maintenance and Disaster Recovery; Powering and Planning Considerations for Critical Facilities; Plant Operations; RF and Optical Measurement; Workforce Management; Training and Certification and Regulatory Issues.
