Score Media draws eyeballs with cross platform coverage of NCAA March Madness


TORONTO – Score Media Inc. said Thursday its coverage of NCAA March Madness resulted in more people watching on all platforms, including TV, online and mobile. Score Media is the exclusive Canadian broadcast partner of NCAA March Madness through 2010.

“We gave hardcore hoops fans even more ways to follow the tournament this year with our complete cross platform approach to the property,” said Score Media CEO John
Levy. “We are extremely pleased to see audience growth on all of these mediums.”

The Score’s coverage of NCAA March Madness drew an overall average audience of 49,000 viewers, up 13% from last year’s tournament average. In The Score’s 18-49 year-old-male demographic, audiences were up 14% over last year.

Traffic on the Score’s website (www.theScore.com) grew 24% to 3,275,216 during this year’s tournament period over last year. Unique visitors rose 27% to 293,320.

In March, the site achieved an overall record audience with unique visitors of 370,899, up 10% from last year. The Web features included an online portal featuring exclusive video content, fantasy analysis, and real-time game blogs.

In its first year of availability, coverage on the Apple iPhone and iPod via ScoreMobile iPhone Edition, which provided previews, box scores and recaps, delivered over half a million page views during the tournament and over 25,000 unique U.S. and Canadian visitors.

The tournament could also be followed on Canadian wireless carriers via ScoreMobile 2.0, which included video highlights and features.

The tournament was also analyzed on Hardcore Sports Radio channel 186 on Sirius Satellite Radio.
