SaskTel’s net income tops $121M


REGINA – Strong customer growth in across its cellular, Internet and Max TV services helped to power SaskTel to a net income of $121.4 million and operating revenues of $1.14 billion in 2008, up 7.2% from 2007.

Wireless revenues increased 16.2% to $350.2 million for the year, with the total number of wireless accesses reaching 510,886. The crown corporation’s total cellular accesses increased by 49,802 to total 502,020, while its Max TV customers topped 70,463.

Consolidated Max TV, Internet and data service revenues increased to $215.0 million in 2008, up $20.6 million from 2007.

“Our foresight in developing strategies to capture new growth revenues while retaining our existing revenue base and improving our overall productivity have allowed us to exceed our net income and revenue targets in an increasingly competitive and fully convergent industry,” said president and CEO Robert Watson, in a announcement.
