REGINA – SaskTel announced Tuesday it will soon launch its infiNET service in Moosomin and will begin connecting homes in select areas of the community by the end of December.
The expansion of SaskTel’s infiNET network to Moosomin is a result of the provincial Crown corporation’s $200-million Rural Fibre Initiative, a multi-phase program that will see SaskTel bring infiNET service to more than 110,000 residents and businesses in more than 130 rural communities, according to a press release.
Once the announced phases of the initiative are completed, SaskTel’s infiNET network will reach approximately 80 per cent of all households in the province, the release says.
Powered by SaskTel’s fibre broadband network, infiNET service delivers internet speeds reaching close to 1 Gbps, SaskTel says.
“As Saskatchewan’s homegrown communications leader, we are thrilled to bring the power of our infiNET network to customers in Moosomin,” Charlene Gavel, SaskTel president and CEO, said in the release. “Delivering incredibly fast speeds, our world-class fibre broadband network will ensure our customers can connect to what matters most to them, faster than ever before.”
The continued expansion of SaskTel’s infiNET and 5G networks is a direct result of SaskTel’s commitment to invest more than $1.6 billion of capital across Saskatchewan over the next five years, the release says.
