SaskTel to invest $1.4B across Saskatchewan through 2021

REGINA – SaskTel will invest $1.4 billion in capital in Saskatchewan over the next five years, including $331 million in this fiscal year.

The investment will ensure SaskTel customers in the province continue to receive its communications services including maxTV, Internet, data and future IP-based services through its 4G/LTE and infiNET Networks, the company said this week.

Highlights of this year’s core Saskatchewan investment program include:

– Invest $51.0 million in its Fibre to the Premises (FTTP) program;

– Invest $91.6 million on a number of initiatives to meet wireline network growth;

– Invest $19.6 million in expanding network capabilities; and

– Invest $123.0 million to improve customer services through new IT platforms and service enhancements, as well as the completion of a new Tier III Data Centre in Saskatoon.
