REGINA – SaskTel is expanding its fibre optic network infiNET to Emerald Park, Martensville, Warman and White City beginning later this year.

The company said Friday that infiNET will be deployed in these communities in two stages, with the first stage focussing on upgrading the neighbourhoods that are served by aerial infrastructure. Construction is projected to start in the coming weeks, with the first customers in these areas expected to be upgraded to infiNET beginning this spring.

The second stage will centre on upgrading the neighbourhoods that are served by underground infrastructure, and SaskTel added that the timetable for this stage of the project is still being finalized.

“We are extremely proud of the progress we have made in deploying infiNET in the province,” said acting SaskTel president and CEO Doug Burnett, in the news release.  “We feel that our infiNET network is one of the most advanced anywhere in the world today.”
