SaskTel speeds up in Melfort

MELFORT, SK — SaskTel is bringing its fastest fibre-optic network service, infiNET, to select areas of the city of Melfort, starting today. The service will eventually be available throughout the city, says the SaskTel news release.

The expansion of infiNET to the city of 6,000 about an hour’s drive southeast of Prince Albert is the direct result of SaskTel’s fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) program. As demands for bandwidth and faster speeds increase, infiNET provides SaskTel with a flexible platform that can quickly grow to meet its customer’s evolving needs, the company says. Broadband speeds in Melfort will now reach up to 300 Mbps.

“As work begins to wrap up on this stage of the project, our focus will soon shift to connecting neighbourhoods to infiNET in the communities of Humboldt, Melville, Nipawin, and Tisdale,” said Doug Burnett, SaskTel president and CEO, in the news release.

The expansion of infiNET to these communities is part of SaskTel’s commitment to invest $1.4 billion across Saskatchewan through 2023, the release says. For more information about infiNET, please visit www.sasktel.com/infinet
