SaskTel rolls out 5G in Lloydminster and Meadow Lake

REGINA – SaskTel last week announced the expansion of its 5G network in Saskatchewan to parts of Lloydminster and throughout Meadow Lake.

SaskTel says it expects to complete its deployment of 5G in Lloydminster, a city straddling the border between Saskatchewan and Alberta, by the end of 2023.

“We’re excited to bring our 5G network to SaskTel customers in Meadow Lake and those on the Saskatchewan side of Lloydminster,” Charlene Gavel, SaskTel president and CEO, said in a press release. “With the power of our 5G network at their fingertips, our customers in both communities will be better equipped than ever to connect with and take full advantage of all the opportunities the modern world and digital economy have to offer.”

SaskTel’s 5G network is currently capable of delivering data speeds up to 1.2 Gbps and will provide faster speeds as the network matures, according to the release.

SaskTel has committed to investing more than $1.6 billion of capital in its networks and operations across Saskatchewan over the next five years, the release says.
