REGINA – Proclaiming 50 as the new 25, SaskTel rolled out its interNET 50 and interNET Extended 50 high speed internet services in the Town of Lumsden and the City of Melfort this week.

Offering download speeds of up to 50 Mbps and upload speeds of up to 10 Mbps, the new service tiers provide the fastest Digital Subscriber Line (DSL) services available in Saskatchewan, the company said.

Sasktel's interNET 50 and interNET Extended 50 join its range of DSL high speed services providing customers with download speeds from up to 5 – 50 Mbps.  The company’s other internet services include wireless mobile, Fusion internet, and its fibre optic infiNET.

Noting that it currently serves over 450 communities with DSL, Sasktel added that its new 50 Mbps DSL services allow it to offer the increasingly quick speeds that meet customers demand as it continues to transition its consumer networks from DSL to fibre.

“Technology is constantly evolving, and we are always looking for ways to get the most from the latest advancements and provide better services for our customers,” said president and CEO Doug Burnett, in the news release. “Innovations like our 50 Mbps service allow us to get customers more from our expansive DSL network infrastructure as we work to bring infiNET fibre optic connections to their homes.”

In other company news, SaskTel also announced the expansion of its interNET Extended 25 service to 18 more rural communities.  That service is now available in 120 communities across the province.
