REGINA – SaskTel Internet customers may now sign up for a new service that offers increased protection from cyber-attacks and identity theft.
Complementary to a customer’s existing anti-virus protection, the SaskTel Internet Threat Detector detects on-line threats, sends alerts to the customer by email or text message, and provides step-by-step instructions for removing detected threats from the computer.
Customers may opt for the no cost option, which incorporates targeted online advertising, or the paid option for $3.95 per month which is ad-free. The telco said that both versions provide the same level of protection.
“While the Internet offers tremendous benefits in terms of communication, entertainment and commerce, there are also substantial risks,” said chief marketing officer Stacey Sandison, in the announcement. “With SaskTel Internet Threat Detector, we’re offering better protection from online threats such as identity theft at little or no cost to our customers.”
