REGINA – SaskTel has expanded LTE coverage to more than 50 towers throughout Southwestern Saskatchewan as it moves to bring LTE to 99% of the province’s population of by April 2017.

The Crown corp. said Tuesday that in addition to offering customers speeds that are up to 10 times faster than on 4G, the deployment of LTE will lay the groundwork for future network enhancements, such as the introduction Voice over LTE (VoLTE).

The expansion of LTE is part of SaskTel’s commitment to invest over $300 million in capital in Saskatchewan in 2016/17 and $1.4 billion through 2016-2021.

“This expansion illustrates our commitment to delivering world class communication and entertainment services to our customers,” said president and CEO Ron Styles, in the news release.  “As the leading Saskatchewan-based communications provider, we will continue to make important investments in our networks that will benefit all parts of the province.”
