SaskTel expands infiNET to Lloydminster

REGINA — SaskTel announced today the expansion of its infiNET service to Lloydminster, a city that straddles the border between Saskatchewan and Alberta.

“Starting today, infiNET service is available in select areas of Lloydminster and will soon be available to all neighbourhoods on the Saskatchewan side of the border,” reads a press release.

SaskTel’s infiNET service is powered by the provincial crown corporation’s fibre broadband network and delivers speeds nearing a gigabit per second, according to the release.

The deployment of infiNET service to the City of Lloydminster is part of SaskTel’s Fibre-to-the-Premises (FTTP) program, “an ambitious initiative designed to dramatically enhance internet connectivity in communities across the province by connecting homes directly to SaskTel’s cutting-edge fibre optic broadband network,” the release says.

SaskTel’s continued expansion of its infiNET network is a direct result of its commitment to invest more than $1.5 billion of capital across Saskatchewan over the next five years, the release adds.
