SaskTel announced Wednesday it has recently expanded its 5G network to nearly 100 cell sites serving rural communities and highway corridors.
A complete list of the 5G expansion locations can be found here or below.
“We are thrilled to expand our advanced 5G network to more hometowns across Saskatchewan, Charlene Gavel, SaskTel’s president and CEO, said in a press release. “As Saskatchewan’s homegrown communications leader, SaskTel is committed to delivering high-quality communications solutions that allow our customers to connect to what matters most to them, no matter where they live in our province.”
This latest 5G expansion is part of the provincial Crown corporation’s ongoing initiative to deliver next-generation and hyper-fast wireless connectivity to Saskatchewan residents and businesses, its press release said.
SaskTel’s 5G network can currently deliver data speeds of up to 1.2 Gbps, and will provide significantly faster speeds as the network matures, it said.
To connect to its 5G network, SaskTel customers need to be within a 5G coverage area, have a 5G-capable device certified for use on the SaskTel 5G network, and subscribe to a 5G-compatible wireless plan.
“The continued expansion of its 5G and fibre networks is a direct result of SaskTel’s commitment to ensure Saskatchewan residents have access to the digital tools and technologies needed to compete and succeed in the modern world,” the press release said.
