
Reported $465.1 million in capital expenditures for the year
REGINA – SaskTel contributed $2.9 million to 548 organizations, associations, venues, events and partnerships in 144 communities in 2021/2022, according to its annual Environmental, Social, and Governance Report, released today.
The telecom also “provided 675 phones and $12,000 worth of phone cards to people fleeing domestic abuse and youth transitioning out of Ministry of Social Services care,” through its Phones for a Fresh Start program, according to a press release.
The ESG report also highlights the work current and retired employees through SaskTel Pioneers and SaskTel TelCare.
The SaskTel Pioneers made $302,096 in financial donations and nearly $1.6 million in in-kind donations while SaskTel TelCare contributed nearly $209,000 to 47 local charities and non-profits, according to the press release.
“Since 1908, SaskTel has built a strong reputation as a socially responsible corporation dedicated to investing in Saskatchewan,” said Doug Burnett, SaskTel president and CEO, in the release. “SaskTel’s Environmental Social Governance focus is inspired by our history, by the vision for Saskatchewan of our shareholder, and designed by the needs of our stakeholder.”
SaskTel also released its financial results for 2021/2022 this month.
“This past year SaskTel invested $465.1 million in capital expenditures in our province,” said Don Morgan, minister responsible for SaskTel, in another press release. “This investment demonstrates SaskTel’s ongoing commitment to not only provide the best customer experience today, but also create additional opportunities for future network capabilities and enhancements.”
The Crown corporation also reported net income of $104.4 million, according to the release. Operating revenues were reported to be $1.3 billion.
