REGINA – Residents of the resort village of Waskesiu Lake are the latest rural subscribers now able to access high speed interNET Extended 5 and interNET Extended 10 from SaskTel.
High speed interNET Extended 5 offers download speeds of up to 5 Mbps while High Speed interNET Extended 10 offers download speeds of up to 10 Mbps. Both packages include unlimited usage, in-home Wi-Fi, plus spam and email virus filtering.
This latest expansion was made possible by SaskTel’s Community Participation Model, which encourages communities to raise funds to assist with the capital costs to bring SaskTel’s services to their residents. The provincial telco said that this program allows it to “responsibly and sustainably” expand services to areas of the province where it may not otherwise be economically feasible to do so.
“Today’s announcement further illustrates SaskTel’s commitment to provide communications services to all corners of the province and I’m pleased to see that the people of Waskesiu took a proactive approach to work with SaskTel to bring internet service to their community,” said Minister Responsible for SaskTel, Don Morgan, in the news release.
“With access to internet services, the people of Waskesiu Lake will be able to stay connected to their busy lives while enjoying all the beauty and fun activities that Waskesiu has to offer,” added acting SaskTel president and CEO Doug Burnett.
