SaskTel bumps up wireless costs

REGINA – SaskTel is tacking on new charges to its customer’s wireless bills which it says will bring the company in line with “the competitive marketplace”.

Starting in November, SaskTel will introduce an $8 monthly charge for its prepaid cellular service, bump its pay-per-use text messaging up from $0.15 to $0.20 per message sent, implement an international text messaging charge, and increase its wireless directory assistance from $1.25 to $2.00 including call completion.

“SaskTel Prepaid Cellular customers have access to a state-of-the-art network around the clock and will still have the lowest monthly cost for service compared to the other prepaid cellular service providers in the Saskatchewan market,” said president and CEO Robert Watson in the announcement.

Prices for its subscription packages will not be affected by these increases, the company said.
