REGINA – SaskTel subsidiary DirectWest is spearheading Saskatchewan’s first on-line group buying service called mysaskdeals.com.
With help from local Saskatoon software company VendAsta, DirectWest said that the new site offers consumers the opportunity to save 50 – 90% off local dining, entertainment, shopping and more.
“We are very excited about this new offering,” said president and CEO, Gord Farmer, in the announcement. “For more than 50 years, DirectWest has been bringing buyers and sellers together by way of the SaskTel Phonebook and now we’ve taken it a step further by helping buyers obtain incredible deals and helping sellers obtain volume sales. It’s a win-win situation.”
Local businesses in Regina and Saskatoon will offer deals every week, and notify consumers through deal alerts sent directly to their inbox or by encouraging them to visit the site. Consumers then can make their secure purchase and tell all of their friends about the deal via FaceBook, Twitter, e-mail, and the like.
The deal is only activated if a minimum number of consumers make a purchase. Once the minimum number is reached, everyone receives notification and their payment will be processed. Consumers will then receive a printable coupon and can take advantage of the deal. If the minimum number is not reached, the deal expires and no one receives the offer and no money changes hands.
