REGINA – SaskTel will invest $199 million in its core network this year, plus announced plans to roll out fibre-to-the-premises (FTTP) to the province’s nine largest urban centers over the next seven years.
Sasktel said Tuesday that its $670 million Next Generation Broadband Access Program will allow customers in Saskatoon, Regina, Moose Jaw, Weyburn, Estevan, Swift Current, Yorkton, North Battleford and Prince Albert to continue to receive some of the best wireless, Max digital TV service, Internet, data and future IP-based services in the world.
Highlights of this year’s investment program include:
– FTTP technology deployment to residences in Regina and Saskatoon, which will allow for speeds of up to 200 Mbps initially;
– continued construction of its 4G network and rural infrastructure program; and
– upgrades to its existing wireless network, Max service and VoIP.
