Saskatchewan gets new local phone competitor


REGINA – Cable co-operative Access Communications launched local telephony in Regina and its nearby areas of White City, Copper Sands and Emerald Park.

“We’ve already rolled out the service to several hundred customers as part of our test trials and we’re pleased to announce today that Access Digital Phone is now available to all residents of Regina and area," said Access president and CEO Jim Deans. "Access Digital Phone will provide Regina consumers with a reliable and fully-featured choice for their home phone service, enabling them to stay in touch with family and friends in North America and overseas all at very competitive rates.”

Deane added that Digital Phone service from Access will offer customers a real choice in phone service with an advantage, “Our customers have come to rely on Access Communications for friendly service and simple packaging. (It) has been developed in such a way as to be easy to understand with no hidden fees or surprises.”

Access Digital Phone is a primary home telephone service that uses Access’s secure managed broadband network, not the public Internet, which enables Access to offer a consistent level of quality and reliability to its phone customers. The service includes full stand-by power back-up and is compatible with home security systems.

Included in the service is a bundle of the most popular calling features including:
Voicemail
Call waiting
Number and name display
Unlimited local calling
White pages listing
911 access, operator, 411and 711 services

Access Digital Phone is being offered for as low as $24.95 per month when bundled with other Access services – a $10 savings from the stand-alone rate. Customers will also save with long distance rates as low as two cents a minute and international rates as low as 2.5 cents a minute.

The company plans to roll the service out to its other communities: Estevan, Weyburn, Yorkton, Melville and the Battlefords; in the next 12 months.
