Sangita Patel to join Cheryl Hickey as host of ET Canada starting Sept. 12

TORONTO – Corus Entertainment announced today Sangita Patel (above, left) has been promoted to co-host of ET Canada.

Patel has been a reporter on the entertainment news show for 10 seasons. She will join the program’s long-time host Cheryl Hickey (right) starting Sept. 12 when its 18th season premieres on Global.

“It’s been an incredible journey to be part of ET Canada for the past 10 years, bringing the best in entertainment to our viewers,” said Patel, in a press release. “I am honoured to be joining the one and only Cheryl Hickey as co-host, the first time that two women will be hosting together.”

In addition to her role delivering entertainment news headlines to viewers, in 2016 Patel was announced as host of Home to Win, an HGTV home renovation series, the press release says. She was nominated for a Canadian Screen Award for her work on the program.

Patel has utilized her national platform to spotlight numerous charitable organizations over the years. She is a supporter of Pathways to Education, Children’s Wish and ONE Campaign. “Most recently, she spearheaded ET Canada’s HELP INDIA broadcast special when India was battling the nation’s worst COVID-19 crisis, bringing together some of the biggest names in entertainment to help raise over $135,000 for the Humanitarian Coalition’s emergency response efforts,” the press release says.

“Whether she is laughing with Julia Roberts, on the beach with Dwayne Johnson, or broadcasting from an aircraft carrier with Tom Cruise, Sangita’s energetic yet thoughtful interviews are what makes her an incredible talent and an immeasurable asset to ET Canada,” said executive producer John Kampilis, who added they are “thrilled” to have Patel host alongside Hickey, and to “have this unstoppable duo lead the show into our 18th season, this fall!”
