TORONTO – Iconic Canadian rock band Rush has been named as the recipient of the 2015 Allan Waters Humanitarian Award.

The award recognizes outstanding Canadian artists whose contributions have positively enhanced the social fabric of Canada.  Named after CHUM Ltd. founder Allan Waters, the award is made possible by funding from BCE-Bell Media Benefits. It will be presented to Rush at the 2015 Juno Gala Dinner & Awards on March 14, 2015 in Hamilton, ON.

Rush exemplifies the spirit of the award having touched millions of lives over decades devoted to philanthropy and humanitarian causes, reads the announcement.  In addition to contributing to worthy causes, Rush also engages their fans to rally around those positive pursuits. The band has performed charity concerts for the likes of the United Way and amFAR in their earlier days, and more recently donated portions of ticket sales to the Canadian Museum for Human Rights and Doctors Without Borders.

The 2015 Juno Awards will air March 15, 2015 live on CTV from Hamilton's FirstOntario Centre.
