RTNDA Canada deadlines approaching

TORONTO – The deadlines for nominations for an RTNDA Lifetime Achievement Award – and for the annual broadcasting excellence awards – are fast approaching.

Since the Radio-Television News Directors Association of Canada Lifetime Achievement Awards were established in 2003, twenty-two deserving individuals have received the honour. One radio and one television award will be presented in each of the four regions at the Regional Pro-Dev and Awards events and at the National Conference in St. John’s.

The Award is one of the highest honours bestowed by RTNDA Canada and is presented to individuals who have distinguished themselves through outstanding service and continued excellence during the course of their career in broadcast journalism. The award is for lifetime achievement rather than for a single contribution.

Nominees should have a minimum of 30 years of service to broadcast journalism. The 2006 awards will be presented at RTNDA Professional Development/Regional Awards events in Victoria, Winnipeg, Sudbury and during the RTNDA National Conference in St. John’s, NL (see dates below).

A letter of nomination, along with optional supporting documentation, must be submitted to the RTNDA Office by December 31, 2005, by e-mail at info@rtndacanada.com or fax at (416) 491-1670.

Also approaching is the January 31st deadline for entry into the RTNDA’s broadcasting excellence awards. There are nine awards in television and radio. Go to www.rtndacanada.com for entry details.
