RTNDA Canada announces Prairie regional award recipients


CALGARY – Global News dominated the best newscast section of the TV awards given out by the Association of Electronic Journalists for the best in electronic journalism in the Prairie region in 2007, it was announced Monday. Local Global News stations were awarded the Bert Cannings Award for best newscast in all three categories of small, medium and large market.

“This is an incredible accomplishment and it shows that quality journalism is thriving in Canada,” said RTNDA president Bob McLaughlin.

The Prairie Regional winners will go on to compete for the RTNDA National Awards, which will be presented at the RTNDA National Conference in Ottawa on June 21.
