RTDNA announces winners of 2013 Lifetime Achievement Awards


TORONTO – RTDNA, The Association of Electronic Journalists, announced today it has selected eight recipients for the 2013 RTDNA Lifetime Achievement Awards.

“It is a great pleasure to honour industry leaders who have contributed significantly to our profession of electronic journalism,” said RTDNA Canada President Ian Koenigsfest in a release. “The recipients of this most prestigious award are broadcasters recognized by our colleagues for continued excellence, passion and commitment to our craft. They are all role models to us and will inspire generations of journalists who follow.”

The Lifetime Achievement Award was created in 2002 to recognize individuals who have distinguished themselves through outstanding service and continued excellence during the course of their career in broadcast journalism.

Lifetime Achievement Award recipients will be honoured at RTDNA’s four regional conferences taking place in April and June.

The 2013 Lifetime Achievement Award recipients are:

BC region

  • Radio: Bill Good, CKNW Vancouver
  • Television: Ian Haysom, Global British Columbia

Prairie Region

  • Radio: Ed Mason, CHED Edmonton
  • Television: Bob Maloney (now retired), CKOS/CICC TV Yorkton, Sask.

Central Region

  • Radio: Don Cameron, CKGL Kitchener
  • Television: Bob McIntyre, CTV Barrie

Atlantic Region

  • Radio: Bob MacEachern, 101.5FM Port Hawkesbury, N.S.
  • Television: Bill Jessome (now retired), host of Maritime Mysteries
