
OTTAWA – Ross Video announced last week the company has joined the SRT Alliance, the open-source initiative which is dedicated to overcoming the issused facing low-latency video streaming.
Founded by Haivision in April 2017, the alliance already has more than 400 members. Its mission is to overcome the challenges of low-latency live streaming by supporting the collaborative development of secure reliable transport (SRT) Open Source. SRT is a free open source video transport protocol and technology stack originally developed and pioneered by Haivision that enables the delivery of high-quality and secure, low-latency video across the public internet.
“We have had interest from our clients in integrating SRT with our product portfolio and we are actively developing these capabilities,” said Ross CTO Troy English, in the press release.
“As one of the leading manufacturers of live production equipment, Ross will provide its customers with best-in-class SRT solutions to help them with their remote and cloud production workflows,” added Jesús (Suso) Carrillo, director SRT Alliance at Haivision.
