IROQUOIS, ON – Ross Video has bought Media Refinery, the Netherlands-based company that developed the 2D/3D high definition character generator and motion graphics system XPression.
"Live graphics will enhance Ross’ portfolio of live production solutions," said CEO David Ross, in the press release. "We will be increasing our presence in European markets as a result of this acquisition. Ross now has offices and development staff based in the Netherlands."
The XPression system offers real time layering and animation of 3D models, 2D and 3D text, rendered animations, live video and web content. Used primarily by graphic designers, programmers, and on-air operators, XPression “advances the look of a production by making it easy to create, manage, and get to air”, the release said, which has led to its “extensive use” in game shows and news and sports productions with live connections to spreadsheets, databases, RSS feeds, newsroom editorial systems and other live data sources.
Ross said that it will begin selling XPression immediately, and showcase the system at NAB 2009.
