TORONTO — Roku today announced it is expanding its Roku TV Ready licensing program into Canada, which allows consumer electronics brands to make their products work seamlessly with Roku TV models.
The first brands to launch Roku TV Ready devices in Canada will be TCL, Denon and Definitive Technology, says Roku’s press release. The following Roku TV Ready devices will soon be available in Canada: TCL Alto 6 and Alto 6+ soundbars; Denon Home Sound Bar 550; and Definitive Technology Studio 3D Mini Sound Bar System.
The Roku Ready TV certification program was first launched in the United States in January 2020. Through a more integrated experience with Roku TV models, the Roku TV Ready program is designed to give consumers confidence when adding audio devices to their TV setup, says the release. Roku TV models will automatically identify products that have been tested and certified to be Roku TV Ready, providing a simple setup and easy access to on-screen volume and sound settings controlled by a single Roku TV remote control.
“At Roku we know that great sound enhances the streaming experience, but we’ve also seen firsthand how challenging it can be for consumers to set up and control TV audio devices. We created Roku TV Ready to solve this problem and we are so proud to be able to now introduce it to our Canadian customers,” said Arthur van Rest, vice-president, international, at Roku.
