TORONTO – Steaming device maker Roku announced Thursday the launch of CBC TV for all Canadian Roku users.
CBC now offers users in Canada the choice of 14 live regional television channels to watch for free, meaning Canadians will also have access to CBC local news from across the country.
Available regional CBC TV channels include Vancouver, Calgary, Edmonton, Yellowknife, Regina, Winnipeg, Windsor, Toronto, Ottawa, Montreal, Fredericton, Charlottetown, Halifax, and St. John’s.
“Roku represents an important and deeply engaged digital audience in Canada and CBC is excited to partner in order to continue to serve Canadians on their terms,” said Richard Kanee, executive director of digital strategy and product at CBC, in the Roku release. “With 14 local feeds available, Canadians from coast to coast to coast can find their home CBC TV channel on their Roku streaming device.”
“We continue to expand our entertainment selection for Canadian consumers and are thrilled to welcome CBC TV to our channel store,” said Yulia Poltorak, director content distribution at Roku, in the release. “It is our aim to have the best possible channel selection for our users, so they can enjoy their streaming devices even more.”
