TORONTO – Rogers Communications has signed a deal to bring FIFA World Cup coverage to Canadians this summer.
Rogers has an agreement with Infront Sports & Media, FIFA’s global electronic media distribution partner, to offer live coverage and highlights from the soccer games in Germany through Rogers Sportsnet, Rogers Wireless, Rogers Personal TV, Rogers Yahoo! Hi-Speed Internet, and Rogers’ OMNI Television.
“Rogers is excited to offer our customers a unique experience through exclusive access to FIFA World Cup coverage and content when and where they want it,” said Phil Lind, Vice-Chairman, Rogers Communications Inc. “Soccer fans will experience FIFA World Cup like never before as Rogers’ customers will be able to stay in touch and have immediate game coverage, statistics and more on their television, mobile phone or high-speed Internet connection.”
Sportsnet will air live games while OMNI will broadcast live in Mandarin, Cantonese, Portuguese, Spanish, and Italian. Rogers Wireless customers can get up to four minutes of highlights per match on their mobile phone.
