Rogers talking to OK Radio about acquisitions

TORONTO – Rogers Media is talking to the OK Radio Group about buying some or all of the Western-based company’s stations.

Rogers is “discussing opportunities” with OK but doesn’t know if or when a deal might be reached, company spokesperson Jan Innes told cartt.ca.

OK Radio’s COO, Stu Morton, said in an email “I’m sorry but at the moment I really have no comment” on whether a deal has been reached. “If and when I can comment I would be happy to do an interview,” he wrote.

OK Radio, headquartered in Edmonton, is an independently owned company, broadcasting in Western Canada since 1973. It has six stations, all on the FM dial, in Alberta and B.C.

Before the Rogers Communications Inc. annual general meeting in Toronto on Tuesday, president and CEO Ted Rogers told reporters that Rogers Media is looking to grow through smaller acquisitions rather than a blockbuster deal.
