Rogers slams new content into SVOD lineup

TORONTO – Rogers Cable and World Wrestling Entertainment officially launched WWE 24/7, a subscription video on demand service, today.

WWE 24/7 draws upon and will include some of the most popular, classic programming on television, including WWE’s highly-rated network shows, specials, record-breaking PPVs and best-selling videos from the company’s 75,000 hour library.

Fans who subscribe will have access to twenty hours of content at any given time, with four to five new hours of material rotated into the line-up every week. WWE 24/7 can be purchased for $9.95 per month. As an SVOD service, this enables viewers to watch these professional wrestling shows when they want, as well as pause, rewind and fast-forward within the content using their remote controls.

“WWE fans are devoted and now they’ll have the chance to relive some of the very best and hard-to-find classic moments in wrestling history," said David Purdy, vice-president and general manager of television services, Rogers Cable, "…we are very excited to be offering this new WWE product to our customers, especially since you can’t get it on satellite."

The new service highlights and gives subscribers access to some of the ring’s most popular personalities – including rare, digitally-re-mastered footage and never-before-seen action.

WWE legends "Rowdy" Roddy Piper (right), Bobby "The Brain" Heenan, Hillbilly Jim and "Mean" Gene Okerlund were on hand to help launch the service at a live announcement at Rogers headquarters today before a crowd of passionate WWE fans, that included fans who won admission to the event through a series of recent radio
promotions.

"We’ve seen tremendous interest in WWE 24/7 since it was launched in the U.S. earlier this year, " said Carl DeMarco, president, WWE Canada. "This is the first of several steps WWE is taking to deliver our content and Superstars wherever our fans look for them. Our Legends are timeless, and we’re getting them to our fans in several new ways, from video on demand on digital cable, personal appearances and DVDs to books and a whole range of consumer products that are beginning to hit store shelves now."
