Rogers opens new Fido call centre

BURNABY, B.C. – The ribbon was cut today by Fido execs on a new West Coast call centre in Metrotown, Burnaby that will bring 130 new jobs to the area.

"We’re extremely pleased to open Fido’s latest call centre just steps away from where we opened one of our first Fido locations in Western Canada," said Sylvain Roy, senior vice-president and general manager of Fido, Rogers Wireless’ other brand. "Nine years after Fido first launched its service in the Lower Mainland, this new call centre demonstrates our continued commitment to customers both here on the coast and all across Canada."

The new $2.4-million facility is housed in the Metropolis at Metrotown shopping centre. Within the centre, "technology mingles with ‘oasis’ centres where, on their breaks, employees can relax, receive chair massages and unwind in a Zen-like atmosphere," says the press release.

"At a time when we’re hearing a lot of noise about customer service centres moving off-shore, we’re proud to offer a new, home-grown solution," added Fadel Chbinha, vice-president of customer relations and operations for Fido.
