Rogers offers another way for customers to control data usage

TORONTO – Rogers is introducing a new feature to its Share Everything customers that provides them with another way to maximize the use of their data within a family plan.

Stream Saver allows the data manager (which could be mom or dad, for example) to change video streaming settings from high definition to standard definition using their MyRogers app, giving any line on their plan the ability to watch more video.  According to Rogers’ example, a customer can watch up to 18 minutes of standard definition video on YouTube compared to 6 minutes in high definition, all while using the same amount of data.

The free service can be turned on or off at any time and the data manager selects which lines on their account use it.  Stream Saver is available on desktop now and will launch in the MyRogers app on Android and iOS in the coming days.

"We want our customers to get the most out their plan and providing solutions that allow them to manage their family's data is a big priority," said Rogers’ EVP wireless Raj Doshi, in the news release.  "This new feature means families can stream, share on social media, and connect with what matters, worry-free."
