Rogers Media hosts 2nd annual Morning for Hope event May 8


TORONTO – On May 8, City’s local morning show Breakfast Television and select Rogers radio stations are holding a national on-air fundraiser to raise money to help end violence against women.

The second annual Morning for Hope event, in support of the Canadian Women’s Foundation, will air live from 6 a.m. to 9 a.m. local time on City, as well as on radio stations 98.1 CHFI (Toronto), News1130 and 96.9 JACKfm (Vancouver), Lite 95.9 (Calgary), 107.7 The River (Lethbridge), 91.7 The Bounce (Edmonton), 102.3 Clear FM (Winnipeg), Lite 92.9 (Halifax), and K-Rock 105.7, KIX 93.5, and 102.7 The Lake (Kingston).

“Rogers Media has been a proud partner of the Canadian Women’s Foundation for nine years, and through this annual national fundraiser we are encouraging our audiences to come together to help end domestic violence and support victims in rebuilding their lives,” said Andrea Goldstein, senior director of communications, Rogers Media, in a release. “Rogers Media’s suite of leading female brands strive to empower and enrich women’s lives across the country each and every day and are passionately devoted to this important cause.”

Funds raised from the Morning for Hope broadcast will help support shelters across Canada and violence prevention programs. Last year’s campaign raise $436,532 for women and children in need. Since 2005, Rogers Media has helped raise more than $3.5 million for the Canadian Women’s Foundation.

We will also help support every emergency shelter across Canada.”

Hosted by favourite personalities from Breakfast Television and Rogers Radio morning shows, Morning for Hope will feature empowering and inspirational stories on how survivors of domestic abuse rebuilt their lives.
