TORONTO – Rogers Communications will debut Fido Home Internet across areas of Southern Ontario today, Cartt.ca has learned.

Under the new service, eligible Fido wireless customers (whose demographic tends towards young urbanites) will get 300GB for $50/month at 30 Mbps download speed, which the company believes will work well for 1-3 people streaming in a home. They can also move to unlimited usage at any time, if they want it. Pricing for that was not immediately available.

Fido Home Internet’s pricing will stay the same from launch, with no early promotional pricing, term contracts or cancellation fees, and there’s no need for a technician to visit the home to install the Fido Wi-Fi modem which comes with the service. So there’s no install fee either. Customers can set up the internet on their own using their phone and Fido Easy Connect.

More will come later today when the company makes the announcement official.
