Rogers launches on-demand app for LG Smart TVs

TORONTO – Rogers announced today the launch of a new on-demand app for LG Smart TVs that lets customers log in to their Rogers account via their Smart TVs and access more than 1,000 hours of content.

Rogers postpaid wireless, home phone and internet customers can log into the Rogers Anyplace TV application on their LG Smart TV by creating a profile on RogersAnyplaceTV.com and catch up on shows from City, Global and CBC. Rogers Cable customers have access to premium programming that they subscribe to through their existing TV package such as AMC, Treehouse, W Network, Showcase, Slice, and HGTV.

“The internet is the anchor in the home, and makes next generation entertainment experiences possible. The extension of Rogers Anyplace TV to LG Smart TVs demonstrates our ongoing commitment to transforming TV viewing for our customers,” said David Purdy, senior vice-president, content, Rogers Communications, in a statement. “We are passionate about connecting our customers to more and more of the content they love, on the growing number of platforms they’re watching it on.”

Rogers Anyplace TV will be available on 2012 and 2013 LG Smart TVs including OLED and Ultra HD. “As a technology innovator and leader, LG brought the world's first 55-inch OLED and 84-inch Ultra HD TV to market and is excited to be the first Smart TV manufacturer to offer Rogers Anyplace TV,” said Ross Snow, vice-president, home entertainment, LG Electronics Canada Inc.

The new app delivers live and on demand content including primetime shows, film rentals, live sports, news, and kids programming, to Canadians across computers, smartphones, tablets, Xbox 360 gaming systems and now LG Smart TVs.

The Rogers Anyplace TV mobile app comes pre-loaded (or available for download) on most Rogers smartphone and tablet devices, providing access to premium on demand and live entertainment content. Rogers On Demand – Channel 100 houses over 4,000 feature films, 5,000 TV episodes and specialty programs, and over 1,900 HD shows and movies.
