Rogers launches Amazon Music app on Ignite TV

TORONTO — Rogers today announced its customers can now access Amazon Music directly through their Ignite TV box, allowing them to listen to their favourite music as well as thousands of playlists and stations.

Rogers Ignite TV customers also have access to the Amazon Prime Video app to watch their favourite TV shows and movies.

With Amazon Music, Prime members have access to two million hand-curated songs and thousands of stations and top playlists at no additional cost to their Prime membership. Subscribers to Amazon Music Unlimited, the service’s premium subscription tier, have access to millions more songs and thousands of playlists and stations.

Rogers Cable and Ignite TV customers have for years also had access to a range of Canadian radio stations and dozens of music channels from Stingray.

To access either Amazon Music Unlimited or Prime Music, customers need an active membership to Amazon Music Unlimited or a Prime membership. Customers can visit Amazon.ca to sign up for those services, explains the Rogers press release.

Building on its suite of applications available on Ignite TV, Rogers says it’s the first carrier in Canada to integrate Amazon Music onto its platform. The Amazon Music app on Ignite TV will offer full access to the catalogue of music titles available by tier.

To access the feature, Ignite TV customers can simply say “Amazon Music” into their voice remote or find it in the app section.
