WATERLOO, ON – Rogers Communications rolled out its Connected for Success program in the Region of Waterloo Wednesday, offering its inexpensive Internet service to approximately 12,000 low-income housing tenants in the surrounding communities.

The service, available for $9.99 per month, includes speeds of up to 10 Mbps download and up to 1 Mbps upload and requires no contract or credit checks upon sign up.

The Region of Waterloo is the 190th housing provider to partner with Rogers on Connected for Success since the program’s inception in 2013. To date, more than 15,000 households across Rogers’ cable footprint in Ontario, New Brunswick and Newfoundland have signed up for the program.

“It is our goal at Rogers to connect communities and make it easier for all Canadians to fully participate in the digital economy,” said Peter King, Rogers’ senior director of corporate social responsibility, in the news release.  “Rogers is committed to supporting Waterloo Region’s vibrant, growing community by providing a low-cost solution that connects residents to the vital services and tools that are crucial to success in today’s digital world.”

Rogers also offers Internet 5, a low-cost service priced at $32.99 per month (plus $8 extra for modem rental), to anyone within its Internet service area.
