MONCTON — Rogers Communications announced today it will invest close to $200 million to bring 100% pure fibre to up to 314,000 homes and businesses in New Brunswick, starting in the communities of Dieppe, Moncton, Riverview and Shediac.
Once completed, these network upgrades will provide customers with access to Rogers services including Ignite Internet, offering speeds up to 1.5 Gbps, as well as Ignite TV and Ignite SmartStream, all powered by Rogers’s all-fibre network, the company’s press release says.
“It is important that we continue to invest in our communities to ensure that customers have access to faster and more reliable service than ever, especially as technology continues to evolve and the world becomes more connected,” said Matt MacLellan, Rogers’s president for the Atlantic region, in the press release.
Rogers recently announced other fibre network investments in rural New Brunswick, including $1.5 million to connect 320 homes and businesses along Route 490 near McQuade, and $1.3 million to connect 366 homes and businesses in Ludlow.
Rogers is also bringing its fibre network to the Storeytown area and the village of Doaktown in New Brunswick through a joint investment of more than $2.3 million as part of the CRTC’s Broadband Fund program, the press release says.
