TORONTO — The puck will drop on the sixth season of Rogers Hometown Hockey on October 6, when the Winnipeg Jets will face off against the Islanders in New York, with Sportsnet favourites Ron MacLean and Tara Slone hosting the show from Halton Hills, Ont.

The Rogers Hometown Hockey Tour presented by Scotiabank and Hyundai will get underway the first weekend of the 2019/2020 NHL season, with the free weekly festival kicking off October 5. Starting in Halton Hills, Ont., the Rogers Hometown Hockey Tour this season will make stops in 25 communities across the country to celebrate the local hockey stories that connect the nation.

Each week, the free festival will feature a full weekend of live entertainment, NHL alumni, and hockey-themed activities, culminating with a live outdoor viewing party of an NHL game broadcast from the Sportsnet Mobile Studio.

“Hockey brings Canadians together from coast-to-coast. It allows us to imagine new possibilities and share the stories that unite the country,” MacLean said in a news release announcing the broadcast schedule for Rogers Hometown Hockey.

Slone added: “It has been a privilege to tell Canada’s hockey stories over the past five seasons and we are grateful for the chance to hit the road for season six; seeing old friends and meeting new ones, and getting to the heart of this country’s insatiable passion for hockey.”

On the weekend of February 8-9, Ottawa will host the Rogers Hometown Hockey Tour during the city’s iconic Winterlude festival. Quebec City will play host February 15-16 during the Quebec International Pee-Wee Hockey Tournament, the world’s most prestigious minor hockey tournament. During the weekend of February 29 to March 1, Peguis First Nation, the largest First Nation community in Manitoba, will host the Tour. The Rogers Hometown Hockey Tour will wrap up March 28-29 in downtown Edmonton, in the state-of-the-art Ice District beside Rogers Place.

This year, Hyundai Canada is a new co-presenting partner of the Rogers Hometown Hockey festival, along with Rogers and Scotiabank.

Every Sunday during the regular NHL season, Rogers Hometown Hockey will feature an outdoor viewing party of an NHL game broadcast on Sportsnet and Sportsnet NOW, with MacLean and Slone hosting live on-site from the Sportsnet Mobile Studio.
