TORONTO – Rogers has renewed its sponsorship agreement with Tennis Canada for the Rogers Cup tournament in Toronto and Montreal for another five years.

The new deal sees Rogers as the title sponsor of the event through 2020, with Sportsnet renewing broadcast rights with expanded coverage for all rounds of the tournament in English and French beginning in 2016.  Sportsnet’s renewed broadcast agreement includes multimedia rights, including television, online and mobile.

As part of the partnership, Rogers and Tennis Canada will work together on grassroots initiatives to help build the game in Canada.  Details on this and a full tournament broadcast schedule will both be announced at a later date.

“Rogers Cup has become one of the most renowned tournaments in the world.  With the smashing success of our Canadian tennis stars, the sport is on a meteoric rise in this country and we are excited to bring all the action to not only the current passionate fan base, but all those who are now discovering this great game,” said Scott Moore, president of Sportsnet & NHL Properties for Rogers, in the news release.

Rogers also announced a sublicensing agreement with TVA Sports for the French-language rights to the Rogers Cup starting in 2016.

"The number of tennis fans is growing and their passion for the game is clearly enjoyed by the best players in the world who consider the Rogers Cup to be among the most prestigious of tournaments," added TVA Sports VP Serge Fortin.  "It was important for us to give fans more with a multiplatform offering and access to exclusive content, and this will span the next five years. With the recent performance of Eugenie Bouchard, Françoise Abanda, Milos Raonic, Vasek Pospisil, as well as many other players, Canadian tennis has become more popular than ever. "

In 2015, the men’s event will be staged at Uniprix Stadium in Montreal from August 7 to 16, while the women’s event will take place at Rexall Centre in Toronto from August 8 to 16.
