WINNIPEG – Rogers is working to improve its wireless service and network in Manitoba.
The company said Thursday that it has increased its LTE coverage in downtown Winnipeg at Main and Broadway, and that the improved coverage also extends to adjacent commercial businesses and residents in this bustling area of the city. Construction is also underway on a new cellular tower in the community of Sage Creek in Winnipeg.
Earlier this year, Rogers placed new wireless sites in service in Winnipeg including Riverview, Ridgewood, Inkster Industrial Park, McPhillips Ave, and Unicity, as well as in Brandon North Hill.
"Our customers want wireless access wherever they are, whether it's to keep in touch with friends and family, or do business in Winnipeg," said Colin Bartlett, Rogers’ prairies region director, in the news release. "That's why we're investing, continuing to make sure they have worry-free, and reliable access to our world class network in more places. As communities across the province keep growing, we're going to continue to improve service across Manitoba."
(An earlier version of this story said Rogers and BellMTS are no longer co-running their wireless network in Manitoba. Rogers and then-MTS have worked together on wireless in the province since 2009 and that network sharing continues, even with the new Bell ownership of MTS, according to a Rogers spokesperson.)
