VANCOUVER — Rogers Communications is increasing its LTE coverage across Vancouver Island to provide Rogers and Fido customers with faster speeds and more seamless network connectivity in several communities on the island.

Rogers is expanding its wireless service at Bear Mountain Golf Resort and Spa in Langford, at the B.C. Legislature in Victoria, in Harewood, Nanaimo, and en route to Swartz Bay Ferry Terminal from Victoria.

“Our customers want wireless access wherever they are, whether it’s to keep in touch with friends and family, or do business on Vancouver Island,” said Perm Jawanda, regional vice-president, British Columbia, Rogers Communications, in a press release. “That’s why we’re investing to make sure they have worry-free, reliable access to our great-performing network in more places. As communities across the province keep growing, we’re going to continue to improve service across British Columbia.”

Customers at Bear Mountain Golf Resort and Spa in Langford can now enjoy high-speed wireless Internet and voice services throughout the luxury vacation resort and residential development, as of July 31. Improved wireless coverage in the Harewood community in Nanaimo is designed to provide customers with better wireless service when travelling in the area between Highway 19 and the Old Island Highway in the south end of Nanaimo, Rogers said.

At the B.C. legislature in Victoria, visitors, residents and members of the legislature will notice improved wireless coverage to the businesses and homes located to the west of and including the B.C. legislative buildings, Rogers said. These improvements were completed in June, in time for Canada’s 150-year celebration.

In May, Rogers rolled out improved wireless service along Mt. Newton Cross Road in the Saanichton area. As a result, customers travelling along Highway 17, between Sidney and Keating Cross, heading to and from the B.C. Ferry Terminal and Victoria, as well as residents living around Saanichton and Saanichton Bay, now have access to improved wireless service, Rogers said.
