Rogers expands Jolly Trolley program

MONTREAL – Rogers Video is rolling out its new generation of Jolly Trolley entertainment units – including the first two it has delivered to the province of Quebec – for youngsters to enjoy during their stay in the hospital.

The company is delivering 34 new generation entertainment units to hospitals throughout Canada

Jean Rickli, Rogers Video vice-president of operations for Eastern Canada, will officially introduce the Jolly Trolleys at the Montreal Children’s and Sainte-Justine hospitals on June 1. The two Montreal institutions join the list of children’s care centres benefiting from this pan-Canadian program that has been in existence since 1993.

Brightly decorated and featuring Toshiba home entertainment technologies, the Jolly Trolley units are self-contained entertainment centres that can easily be moved to wherever they are needed in the hospital. They provide a current library of recent film releases and a selection of video games to entertain young patients. Toshiba, Nintendo and Rogers Video have partnered to equip the new Jolly Trolleys with a 27-inch television, a DVD/VHS combo player and a Nintendo GameCube.

Movie studios such as Buena Vista Home Entertainment, Warner Home Video, Lions Gate Films, MGM Home Entertainment, Sony Home Entertainment, 20th Century Fox Home Video, Hit Entertainment, Kaboom!, Paramount Home Video and Universal Home Entertainment donate movies on an ongoing basis to provide the kids with a fresh movie selection.

“It was just a year ago that Rogers Video opened its first store in the province of Quebec, and today we are absolutely delighted to be able to contribute in at least a small way to bring some cheer to hospitalized youngsters through the Jolly Trolley program," stated Mr. Rickli. "We are deeply encouraged by the favourable reaction of our partners in the hospital sector toward this program, and we hope the project will grow even larger throughout the province in the years to come."
