Rogers announced Monday it is now offering next-generation WiFi 7 to Rogers Xfinity customers in select areas of Calgary.
The cable giant said Rogers Xfinity will roll out WiFi 7 to the rest of Canada this year.
“The launch of the Rogers Xfinity router in Alberta is the company’s most powerful,” said a Rogers press release. “It is capable of delivering multi-gig symmetrical speeds over WiFi with the ability to connect 200+ devices at one time. The router is available exclusively with Rogers Xfinity’s Pro 4G plan, delivering up to 4 Gbps download and 1 Gbps upload speeds — the fastest available on any Hybrid Fibre Coax (HFC) network — a global first.”
Rogers’s introduction of WiFi 7 technology in the Canadian market is made possible by its 10-year Xfinity technology agreement with American cable giant Comcast announced in April 2024.
“Canadians deserve the best connectivity experience, and this is the first in a series of launches this year to bring the latest technology to more Canadians,” said Bret Leech, Rogers president of residential, in the release. “WiFi 7 delivers more speed, better coverage and better adaptability for an ultra-reliable, ultra-low lag experience.”
