TORONTO – WFN: World Fishing Network is available to Rogers Cable customers.
As reported last month by www.cartt.ca, Rogers is the first operator in Canada to launch WFN, which is owned and operated in Canada by Insight Sports Ltd. www.WFN.TV.
WFN is the first television network in North America dedicated to all aspects of angling. The WFN programming lineup features five distinct programming blocks. International Waters features the world’s top fishing destinations. Ultimate Fishing is the home of competitive fishing, led by coverage of the popular FLW Tour. School of Fish is an instructional and lifestyle block. All-Canadian Fishing features the best fishing shows from the Great White North, including Canada’s fishing icon, Bob Izumi. American Angling gives viewers access to some of the most popular programs from south of the border.
“We’re elated that there is finally a network devoted to the more than four million Canadians who fish, available on Rogers Digital Cable,” says Mark Rubinstein, President, Insight Sports Ltd. “Fishing is not only one of the top recreational activities in Canada, it’s a massive industry that now finally has a television network of its own.”
Fishing in Canada is popular in all regions of the country, across all age groups. Canadians spend 72 million days a year fishing, and Canadians who fish over the age of 15 outnumber those who golf and play hockey combined, says the WFN release. (Source: Canadian Sportfishing Industry Association)
