Rogers announced Wednesday the expansion of its Rogers Xfinity Self Protection home security product, including the addition of more smart home devices and features as well as new plans with more flexible options.
New smart home devices include water sensors and door locks. The new Urgent Response feature enables customers away from home to connect to trained agents 24/7 who can contact local law enforcement closest to their home. This helps customers control and protect their homes from wherever they are through the Rogers Xfinity app, Rogers said in a press release.
Rogers Xfinity Self Protection plans include 24/7 continuous video recording, available through a range of options such as smart door locks, indoor and outdoor cameras, sensors and more, Rogers said.
“Rogers Xfinity Self Protection offers a fully integrated self-monitored smart home experience, bringing security, connectivity and control into one seamless platform,” Rogers’s press release reads. “Whether checking a camera feed on the TV, getting real-time alerts on the go, locking the front door remotely, or accessing Urgent Response from across the country, it all works together through the Rogers Xfinity app.”
Rogers said as part of its commitment to Western Canada, new Rogers Xfinity Self Protection plans are available to customers in British Columbia, Alberta, Saskatchewan and Manitoba, and will roll out across the rest of Canada later this year. The Urgent Response feature is available as a $7/month add-on for Rogers Xfinity Self Protection customers coast to coast, it said.
Rogers’s expansion of its Rogers Xfinity Self Protection offering comes two weeks after rival Bell announced it was selling its home security assets to Toronto-based a.p.i Alarm Inc. as Bell looks to focus on its telecommunications, enterprise solutions and media businesses.
