CALGARY – As one of the more popular shows this summer draws to its conclusion, Shaw Communications and CanWest MediaWorks announced today that every episode of Rock Star: INXS is now available on Shaw Video On Demand.
Three new episodes of the reality show (where the remaining members of Aussie rockers INXS are choosing a new lead singer to replace the late Michael Hutchence) air each week on the CH network as aspiring singers show their stuff to the band and all of North America.
Shaw Digital customers can order any past episodes through Shaw VOD using their Digital remote control (in select markets). Shaw Digital customers that subscribe to Shaw High-Speed Internet can also order Rock Star: INXS via the Shaw On Demand web site at www.shawondemand.ca and follow the links to the ‘TV Series’ menu.
Each commercial-free episode is priced at $0.99, with all shows available on VOD the night following their original airing.
This “is a great example of how we can integrate reality TV with the on demand world of entertainment," said Peter Bissonnette, president of Shaw Communications, in a release. "It creates a customer experience that lets them watch what they want, when they want."
"This is the first time that programming from CH Television has been made available in an on demand environment," added Greg Treffry, vice-president of business development for CanWest MediaWorks. "Rock Star: INXS is a perfect fit for VOD as the show has been unbelievably popular in Canada, and with three episodes a week, VOD ensures that Western Canadians don’t have to miss a single episode."
The show, while a minor hit Stateside, consistently wins its time period and is in the top three programs among adults 18-49 according to BBM Canada, says the release. In Vancouver, the Tuesday show has been the number one program overall in the market for the last four weeks.
